About Us

Volunteering

Our club members volunteer countless hours, working on community projects and fundraising to support a wide variety of charitable causes, in the past year Sertoma members have helped with many projects in our area through volunteer work and contributions: (see Sertoman of the Year awards)

  • Contribution of funds and supplies to individuals and families of hearing impaired individuals in the greater Willmar area.
  • Help fund classroom sound amplification systems for school districts in Willmar and the surrounding area.
  • Support Camp Sertoma for hearing impaired children located on the Confidence Learning Center Campus near Brainerd.
  • The Area 6 Track and Field Competition is hosted in Willmar every spring by our local club. Sertoma volunteers help each year to organize and run this special event in which more than 200 athletes participate.
  • Member participation each winter in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics.
  • Significant contributions to The United Way and other local non-profit organizations.
  • Salvation Army bell ringing during the holidays.

Fundraising

Most of our Sertoma Club’s sponsorship funds are raised through our annual Tropical Getaway Raffle.  Members sell raffle tickets in the community for discounts at local businesses and a chance to win several prizes including a $2,000 travel voucher!

Various other fundraising projects are undertaken throughout the year. The Willmar Sertoma Club then gives these funds to various charitable causes and individuals in the area.  Requests for funding come from groups, families, individuals, club members and healthcare providers.

Service to Mankind Award (see past winners)

Each year, our club presents a Service to Mankind Award to a local individual or individuals who exemplify the spirit of giving within our communities. This award is presented at our annual banquet in September along with the Sertoman Of The Year Award.
